The UAE and Saudi Arabia took significant steps on Wednesday to accelerate joint co-operation with the first meeting of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council in Jeddah.

The council, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, met at the Peace Palace in Jeddah and declared its organisational structure.

A new Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers-CoV) virus patient has been confirmed in the UAE, according to World Health Organization. Tom Cruise has praised the UAE for its help in creating “one of his most dangerous stunts yet”.

Cruise made the halo jump – a military free-fall manoeuvre designed to get troops on the ground undetected – for a scene in his upcoming movie, Mission Impossible: Fallout, which was filmed in Abu Dhabi, among other locations.
