Mexico earthquake: Hundreds killed, topples buildings

At least 216 people died in Mexico City -- the country's capital -- and in the states of Puebla, Mexico and Morelos, officials said. Previously, authorities had said that as many as 248 people had died. The death toll was later revised.

The epicenter of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake was 2.8 miles (4.5 kilometers) east-northeast of San Juan Raboso and 34.1 miles (55 km) south-southwest of the city of Puebla, in Puebla state, according to the US Geological Survey.

Hotels and restaurants will refrain from serving alcohol on Wednesday, September 20 and Thursday, September 21 as the emirates mark Islamic New Year.

The period has been moved forward by one day, Dubai Tourism said on Tuesday.

It had originally told licensed premises to halt serving drinks and hosting live entertainment between 6pm on Thursday and 7pm on Friday.

This will now be from 6pm on Wednesday to 7pm on Thursday.

Dubai-based flydubai will double its operations to Russia for the winter season in response to growing passenger demand. The airline presented its seasonal offering at the Leisure 2017 Exhibition that opened today in Moscow where it is participating for the third time in partnership with Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
