Two people were injured when a driver lost control of his vehicle and smashed into an ATM booth in Dubai.

The accident happened on Thursday night as customers queued to withdraw cash at the busy Burjuman shopping centre.

“The motorist lost control of his vehicle after recklessly driving on the pavement and swerving to his right side. He then crashed into the glass door of the ATM booth,” said Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Al Qasim, head of Dubai Police's media department.

Microsoft is hopeful that the ban on Skype in the Emirates will be lifted, following discussions with the UAE authorities over the use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services.

Growth in arrivals was echoed by generated by UNWTO Tourism Highlights 2018 Edition’ shows that international tourist arrivals reached a total of 1,323 million in 2017, some 84 million more than the previous year and a new record. The sector has now seen uninterrupted growth in arrivals for eight straight years. 2017’s growth was the highest since 2010, led by the regions of Europe and Africa, which received increases in arrivals of 8% and 9%, respectively.

UAE September fuel prices: petrol and diesel to increase marginally

Petrol prices in the UAE will marginally increase in September, ENOC announced today.

Here's the breakdown:

• Super 98: Dh2.59 a litre (up from Dh2.57 in July)

• Special 95: Dh2.48 (up from Dh2.46)

• Diesel: Dh2.64 (up from Dh2.63)

Since the start of the year, the price at the petrol pumps has been steadily increasing, despite a blip in July.

Fuel prices were liberalised about two years ago, so they now move with the market.

Dubai's international tourism receipts reached AED77.5 billion ($21.1 billion) last year, making up nearly a third of the Middle East total, according to a new report.
