Emirates have launched one of its biggest sales yet with special fares to over 70 global destinations within its network. Passengers can still plan a short getaway before the summer season ends to destinations in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, and the Far East. The offer applies to bookings made today until 20th August 2018 for travel between 1st September 2018 and 31st March 2019.

A final decision over the disputed ownership of a $500 million (Dh1.8bn) superyacht at the centre of the UK's biggest ever divorce settlement is still to be made, after a court hearing was held in Dubai on Sunday.

A freezing order imposed by the London High Court has been placed on the 115-metre yacht Luna under the terms of the divorce settlement between Russian oil tycoon Farkhad Akhmedov and his ex-wife Tatiana Akhmedov.

Public sector to get a week's break for Eid Al Adha

The public sector will get a week-long break for Eid Al Adha this year with the government announcing a five-day holiday from Sunday, August 19, to Thursday, August 23.

Employees of ministries and federal departments will resume work on August 26, after the regular Friday-Saturday weekend, according to a Cabinet directive announced on Saturday.

Holidays for the private sector have not been declared yet.

Airport worker stole Alaska Airlines plane and crashed

An airline employee who stole a Horizon Air passenger plane from a Seattle airport told air traffic controllers that he was a "broken guy" but also joked about whether the airline would hire him as a pilot if he landed safely.

Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile fired from Yemen by the Houthi rebels on Wednesday, with shrapnel from the missile killing a Yemeni man and wounding 11 others living in the southern Saudi city of Jizan, the Arab coalition said.
