Figures released ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the UAE reveal importance of China as source market for Dubai visitors

The number of Chinese tourists to Dubai have more than doubled in the past four years, according to new figures released on the eve of a visit by President Xi Jinping.

Dubai Tourism reported growth of 119 percent in overnight Chinese visitors since 2014 and a year-on-year increase of 41.4 percent from 2016 to 2017.

Since 20th June, the UAE has provided 18,943 food baskets in addition to 432 boxes of mineral water to protect public health and prevent any diseases caused by non-potable water distributed to 27 districts and areas in Hodeidah.

A cat abandoned by his owners at an Abu Dhabi bus stop is still waiting for them to return, four months later.

Gussy, as he has been called by the people who feed him, never leaves the area around the bench at the bus stop where he was left in Al Bateen near the Intercontinental Hotel.

A new Salik gate will be installed on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road on October 23, the Roads and Transport Authority has confirmed.

The launch of the new toll gate, on the road towards Abu Dhabi after Ibn Battuta Mall, is expected to ease traffic in Downtown Dubai.
