An image of the Palm Jumeirah from space has got people talking about the artificial island in the shape of a palm tree.
The Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev posted the image to his Instagram account on Tuesday, noting that he had visited the island five years ago with fellow cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov.

Dubai airports to reduce passport clearance time to 10 seconds

General director assistant of the airport immigration department at GDRFA, brigadier Talal Ahmad Al Shanqeti, told Gulf News a new system will vet travellers 48 hours before they fly to process them more quickly upon arrival at passport control.
This will mean clearance checks by immigration staff that previously took three minutes could now take as little as 10 seconds, according to the official.

The UAE's telecoms regulator is in talks with Microsoft and Apple that focus on the potential lifting of a ban on Skype and FaceTime.
