Fuel prices drop in UAE for November 2017

The National -- The Ministry of Energy has announced on Monday, October 30, new petrol prices for November in the UAE.

The per-litre prices have been fixed for Super 98 at Dh2.03 (down from Dh2.12 in October); Special 95 at Dh1.92 (from Dh2.01 last month); E Plus-91 at Dh1.85 (down from Dh1.94 in October).

And diesel price has been fixed at Dh2.11 per litre, a slight increase from Dh2.10 in October.

UAE fuel prices are linked to international crude oil prices.

Dubai sees sharp rise in visa overstays

The National -- Dubai's immigration department said about 25,000 people have overstayed their residency visa so far this year - more than twice the total seen in 2016 - with many hit with fines running into tens of thousands of dirhams.

Job losses and illnesses were among the common reasons for individuals and families having their visa cancelled but continuing to live in the country.

New driverless systems to be trialed in Dubai from next year

The National -- Driver-less cars that run seamlessly with pedestrian crossings will be trialed in Downtown Dubai as the emirate races towards an autonomous transport future.

The interface between traffic signals and autonomous vehicles will be tested on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, with a driverless test car passing through the three intersections between the Dubai Mall and a parking area.

Lewis Hamilton won his fourth career Formula One season championship on Sunday with a ninth-place finish at the Mexican Grand Prix in a race won by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

More than 1,000 hybrid taxis on Dubai streets

Dubai Taxi has added more Toyota Camry hybrid cars, more than doubling its current fleet of 500.

UAE Toyota distributor, Al Futtaim, said on Sunday that it had handed over 554 of the vehicles to the Road and Transport Authority’s taxi body, adding to the current fleet of 503.

Abu Dhabi welcomes first Azur Air charter flight from Moscow

In response to rising demand on routes between Abu Dhabi and Russia, the emirate's Department of Culture and Tourism has partnered Anex Tourism Group, an aviation and tourism services provider, to charter direct flights between the European country and Abu Dhabi.

Auto Week -- The Bloodhound Super Sonic Car (SSC) – built for a new land speed record – performed its first public run on Thursday, hitting 200 mph in just nine seconds with a Eurofighter EJ200 jet engine strapped to its back.
