The National -- UAE citizens and expatriates alike will hoist the country’s flag high at 11am on Thursday, November 2 in celebration of national Flag Day.

Although UAE Flag Day has been, until now, commemorated on November 3, the Ministry of Cabinet and the Future issued a circular on Saturday announcing that celebrations will take place on Thursday, November 2 this year.

CHICAGO - Small RNA molecules originally developed as a tool to study gene function trigger a mechanism hidden in every cell that forces the cell to commit suicide, reports a new Northwestern Medicine study, the first to identify molecules to trigger a fail-safe mechanism that may protect us from cancer.

The National -- A female humpback whale and a small calf have been sighted one kilometre off the coast of Dubai.

The sighting is the first confirmed live record of the highly-endangered species in the Arabian Gulf waters of the UAE, according to marine biologist Robert Baldwin, who studies the whales and dolphins of the UAE and Oman, WAM, the UAE state news agency reported.

The bodies of two Emirati pilots who died when their aircraft crashed in Yemen arrived at Al Bateen Executive Airport on Wednesday.

Major Pilot Ali Al Mesmari and First Lieutenant Pilot Badr Al Marasheda were killed as a result of the accident, which was caused by a technical fault, the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces said on Tuesday.
